What is a blog? Well, it’s basically short for a web log, an online journal if you will. Blogs have been popping up all over, and are now becoming so popular it has been added to the dictionary. Now everyone loves making a website, it’s fun, rewarding, and can make for a good hobby, maybe even generate some money. But how about blogging? Is that a good alternative to coding and designing a website? I’ll review some choices to make in this article.
Ease of Use
Blogs are really easy to use. What else is there to do but post. Go into a form, make a title, make your rant, and click post. Done. Many people have opted out of the whole personal website to go just for a blog. They can still put up tutorials by using different software that sorts the posts into categories, or they can code their own that includes the function. It still has the same end product, maybe even simpler.
Nice Simple Design
How many blogs have you honestly seen with wires and crazy effects made in Photoshop? I’ve seen next to none. No, make that none. Simple designs = fast loading times = good. I hate long loading websites. And besides that, you don’t need to convey a lot of information on a blog. You have your simple header which is like one graphic or so, your main area, maybe a little area on the side to put some links, and finally maybe some kind of bottom thing with rights and stuff. That’s it, nice simple, easy.
I don’t see a huge difference, but on a lot of those issues, a website can go either way. The final decision is up to you, but if you don’t want to make a huge commitment and just make something quick and don’t want to make a huge dedication, go with a blog.
